The International Pioneers SLC has fun and exciting opportunities just for you. Learn English in real-life situations while enjoying trips around New York City. You will also have a chance to develop your artistic talents in music, art, and drama by joining the Chinese, Spanish, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and Filipino Clubs.

International Pioneers Mission
The mission of the International Pioneers Learning Community is to provide an environment which will foster and support learning English to support academic growth in content area subjects. Common Core Standards will be incorporated. Necessary resources in content areas and English will be implemented to allow ELLs to achieve high standards of performance as well as to prepare for career challenges and college readiness.
Goals
- Become proficient in English within four years of entering grade nine.
- Use English to communicate about our academic subjects.
- Build confidence and skills which supports strong, healthy social development.
- Become responsible, well-informed citizens and perform our civic duties.
Courses Offered:
- Students in the international SLC can enroll in elective classes throughout the school. Many of them choose to take classes from the World Language department to continue to broaden their language skills.
- After School Students with Interrupted Formal Education (SIFE) program - This course is designed for former SIFE students and offers 2 days of English and 2 days of Spanish instruction

Assemblies
- Queensborough Community College presentation about the CLIP program. CLIP is a pre-college program, and its goal is to provide intensive, full-time instruction in English to students who are at a very low proficiency level based on their CUNY Skills Assessment Tests in reading and writing. The purpose of the CLIP is to bring their proficiency up.
