Year 1975

Memoir I started Newtown high school as a freshman in September 1975. I went to Catholic grammar school for 8 years with the nubs snd priests. I did not want to go to Catholic High School. I wanted a different environment. So I chose Newtown. I have to say it was the best experience I had as a teen. Here I went to a multicultural school with all nationalities from all over Queens. I got to make friends with students from different cultures. It was so special for me to learn about other cultures broadened my education and learn about other people from around the world all in my high school. I took spanish as my second language and I continued in college too. I still use it in my career as a nurse today and when I was a teacher assistant in special ed nursery school I worked at as well.

Every race was represented at Newtown student body. I loved it. It holds a special place in my heart then and now.
